The Direct Online Starter or DOL starter series is usually applied in the industrial world such as factories. Generally, DOL starters are used in engines or electro-motor capacities below 10kW. If the engine or electro motor is above 10kW, you can use a star delta starter or inverter circuit.
DOL Starter Working Principle
The DOL Starter circuit in general works directly providing a voltage of 380V AC on the electro motor so it is immediately full load to drive the electro motor. Through a circuit that has short circuit and overload security to protect an electro motor.
The recommended connection is delta but depending on the electro of the motor there is also a star connection.
