TYPES:

1. Nutsche Filter Dryer: A versatile design consisting of a cylindrical container with a perforated bottom. A filter layer forms at the bottom, and vacuum or pressure is applied to suck out the liquid. The filter layer is then dried in place by flowing hot air or steam.

2.Rotary Drum Filter Dryer: This type uses a rotating drum that is partially submerged in slurry. The slurry is filtered on the surface of the drum, and the filter sediment is then dried as the drum rotates through the drying zone.

3. Centrifugal Filter Dryer: High-speed centrifuges are used to separate solids from liquids. The solids are then dried in the centrifuge by applying heat and vacuum.

4.Spray Dryer: In this type, the liquid feed is atomized into fine droplets, which are then dried by contact with hot air. It is generally used for heat-sensitive materials.

HOW IT WORKS:

1. Filtration: The slurry (a mixture of solids and liquid) is fed into a filter dryer. The liquid passes through the filter media, leaving behind the solid particles.

2. Cake Washing (Optional): In some cases, the filter cake is washed with a solvent to remove impurities.

3. Drying: The filtered residue is dried using heat and/or a vacuum. Water is removed from the solid particles, resulting in a dry product.
