Information
Tank Cleaning is a process of removal and cleaning of tanks of various waste and mud stick to and settles in the bottom of the tank wall.
Tank cleaning process consists of several stages, generally as follows:
1. Gas freeing
Gas freeing is a process of removing harmful gases, (such as H2S) in the tank before starting the next. This process included the preparation stage.
Prior to the implementation of the work tank cleaning as a whole needs to be done gas freeing in order when the first check (first man entry) is expected to be free of many gases that are harmful, though the team assigned to wear equipment complete protection, such as the chemical, resistance cover all, breathing apparatus, safety shoes and helmets.
2. Tank Washing
Tank Washing is the process prior to the demucking, dirt on the walls of the tank is cleaned with water high pressure, with the engine tank washing (Butterworth) which is designed to rotate 360 vertically and horizontally, so that the dirt fall and settle to the bottom of the tank along with the silt more , It also aims to soften the mud that has hardened on the wall of the tank, so it will simplify the process of scrapping the walls of the tank, and shorten time jobs.
3. De-slopping
Residual water washing tank, or water ex-ballasting at first so that the exhaust de-mucking could do. Considering that the residual water washing tank and also a former ballasting is including hazardous and toxic materials (B3), the disposal process was conducted with the standards and procedures for waste disposal B3.
4. De-mucking
Is a process of cleaning and removal of oil sludge (oily sludge) from the bottom of the tank to the other areas, for example the main deck. For maximum results from the process tank cleaning, de-mucking process should be done in a single unit with scrapping.
5. Sludge Packaging
Packing is a process that becomes unity with demucking, oil sludge that has been lifted to the surface eg playing deck surface ships and in containers with sludge bag, the bag consisting of two layers. This is to guard against leakage (spill) of the bag. Then some sludge will be put into the bag jumbo bag, or bags larger, in order to simplify the process of moving out of the tanker cargo ship to waste
