HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) made from petroleum. HDPE is also widely used in plastic products, HDPE has a density of about 0.93 -0.97 g / cm3.

HDPE pipes have codes that actually have their own meaning, in general these codes are:

- "PE"

"PE" is the code to refer to the density of the HDPE pipe. Usually the "PE" code is followed by a number after that.

In general, there are only 2 codes in Indonesia known

· PE80

· PE100

PE80 has a smaller density so that it becomes more flexible (more flexible, usually better applied to mine surfaces that have uneven, bumpy and up and down contours).

HDPE pipe with PE80 code also has disadvantages, if needed for high pressure, thicker pipe walls are needed, so that it becomes a little more expensive (less economical) and also "friction loss" will be greater.

PE100 has a greater density, so it becomes stiffer, less well applied on mine surfaces that have uneven and bumpy contours.

But in the need for high pressure, does not require walls that are too thick, so that it becomes lighter (easier handling) and the "friction loss" is not too large and certainly more economical.

- "PN"

"PN" is a code that refers to the level of pressure (Pressure). same thing with "PE", the code "PN" is also always followed by numbers.

In general the "PN" codes are

· PN 10

· PN 12.5

· Etc

The number that follows the "PN" code means the pressure that can be held by the HDPE pipe. For example, PN10 means it has a resistance to pressure of 10x100 kpa (1000 kpa = 10 Bar). PN12.5 has a pressure resistance of 12.5x100 kpa (1250 kpa = 12.5 Bar).

- "SDR"

"SDR" (Standard Dimension Ratio) is a code to determine the thickness of an HDPE pipe. By knowing the "SDR", we can find out the thickness of the HDPE pipe.
