Chesterton 1400R is a unique graphite-braided reinforced
packing tape designed to handle both pump and valve applications. There are two tiered reinforcement systems used in 1400R to make it extrusion resistant and capable of withstanding high operating pressures.
Each piece of graphite is reinforced with a carbon filament, and the whole fabric is reinforced with an additional piece of carbon yarn. The exceptional thermal conductivity and extreme temperature resistance of graphite packing makes this an excellent choice for water management programs.
Due to its thermal characteristics, these packs are capable of sealing many applications with little or no leakage, minimizing the amount of flush required.
Unlike synthetic yarn types, these graphite / carbon packs are not entirely dependent on cooling and lubrication provided by flush.
Compressible graphite ribbon yarns combined with carbon reinforcement make the packaging a good sealing option on equipment with multiple arms, axle or fill box wear or imperfections.This could mean extended service time before the pump should be removed or expensive arm or replacement shaft.
In addition to excellent sealing capability in rotating equipment, the 1400R is a superior sealing valve material.
