Tie Rod Ends Function

1. Moving the Wheel Forward

Tie Rod Ends are car spare parts that are located between the end of the steering gear on the steering wheel, and the steering knuckle on the car wheel. When the driver turns the direction of the steering wheel, the circular motion of the steering wheel will travel to the steering gear box which then changes into a push and a pull.

This movement will be carried forward by the car's Tie Rod Ends, which are used to pull or push part of the front wheels of the car, so that the wheels will shift or turn according to the direction of the steering wheel.

Tie Rod Ends are located between the ends of the steering gear on the steering wheel and the steering knuckle on the car wheels. 3. Adjusting the Front Wheelbase

There are 2 types of Tie Rod Ends that are widely used in vehicles, namely toe in and toe out. The function of the toe in is to adjust the front wheels to rotate in a straight and stable manner. In addition, the toe in is also able to prevent uneven wear on the tires. Adjustment can be made by adjusting the short length of the thread between the car's long tie rod and the tie rod end.

4. Vibration Damper

Tie Rod Ends on cars can also function to dampen vibrations that occur due to rotation of the steering rod. Tie Rod Ends are equipped with ball joints that can cause movement in all directions. Thus, these Tie Rod Ends also function to dampen the vibrations that occur.
