Sago flour is a type of flour that is commonly used as an ingredient in making cakes or other types of food. Sago flour itself has similar characteristics as tapioca flour. The difference is that tapioca flour is made from cassava tree trunks and sago flour is made from palm trees.

Sago flour has a different texture with tepung terigu, wheat flour, cornstarch, rice flour, and tapioca flour. This is because sago flour has a fairly soft texture and is a bit rough when it has not been processed. However, if it has been given water or has been in the form of a dough, the result is a slightly pale white color, and if you hold it you will feel a rough and slightly gritty texture. When cooked, the texture will thicken like glue.

Sago Flour Function

Sago flour is used in the manufacture of various dishes. Such as pempek, bika Ambon, cheese sago cake, sago rice, sago porridge, and so on.

Sago flour contains starch or carbohydrates. So that this flour can be used as a staple food other than rice. However, other nutrients are only found in small amounts in this sago flour.

How to Process Sago Flour

So that sago flour is not easily stale, it should be processed as soon as it is opened from the wrapper. Or if you want to store it, you should first roast it until it dries and then put it in an anti-bacterial jar.

Meanwhile, to process sago flour, there are several steps before mixing it into your cooking:

1. To make pastries, roast the sago flour using pandan leaves until the pandan leaves are dry.
