5 Types of Materials That Are Widely Used For Brake Pad Production Materials
There are many kinds and types of means of transportation, one of which is a motorcycle. Designed with two wheels that rotate on one axis and are able to go fast. This vehicle relies on various important components to get a usable category, one of which is good braking. The motorcycle brake system is equipped with a lever, brake cable, master caliper and brake lining. The components of this brake lining must be considered both in terms of product quality and service life so as to provide good braking to minimize accidents.
In Indonesia, there are various types of brake pads depending on the material they are made of. Here we present a review of the types of materials used to make brake linings.
1. Asbestos Material
This heat-resistant material is certainly resistant to friction so that when braking occurs, it will not be easily worn out due to abrasives. This constituent material was once very popularly used as brake lining material, both for motorcycles and car brake linings.
2. Organic Ingredients
Widely known as organic pads, this type of brake lining consists of several mixtures of non-asbestos materials. This product is composed of glass powder, fiber, kevlar, and carbon. This organic pad offers the advantage of being soft and easy to grip the brake disc.
3. Semi-Metallic Material
This constituent material has superior braking power when compared to organic materials. has a good resistance to heat without reducing the grip of the disc brake.
4. Ceramic Material
Also known as a ceramic pad, this brake lining material is customized with additional materials such as carbon, silicon and copper fiber, so that it has excellent grip. In addition, this product also has a quieter sound than semi-metallic brake pads.
5. Material Sintered Full Metal
Various advantages are offered for this full metal brake lining, such as more responsive braking power, less dust and greater resistance so that the service life is also longer.
