Uses of Earth Clamps

Earth Clamps is a tool that can be used to measure or leakage current in the ground and ground resistance. The way to use the two functions is quite different. To make it easier for you to know how, here's the discussion:

1. For Load Current Measurement

Earth Clamps designed for load measurement can only be clamped around a single cable. Clamping more than one cable, especially cables that are not in one phase sequence (one busbar) is not recommended. This makes the measurement results inaccurate/precise.

2. To measure Leakage Current

For measuring leakage current there are things that need to be considered, namely the measurement point. Are we going to measure the leakage current at grounding or will we measure the leakage current at the AC circuit/installation. Here's how to use it

a. In case of leakage current measurement on grounding: Earth Clamps can be clipped around grounding wire/wire

b. There are 2 ways to measure leakage current in AC circuits/installations:

1 phase circuit: Leakage current amperage pliers are clamped at once around the phase and neutral wires (clamp at once to 2 wires)

3 phase circuit: Leakage current amperage pliers are clamped at once around the 3 phase and 1 neutral cable (clamp at once to 4 wires).
