Components in the Conveyor System
The following are the components in the Conveyor System:
1. Belt
Belt is a conveyor base resembling a wide belt, usually made of elastic material. Well, goods or cargo to be moved by conveyors are usually placed in this layer.
2. Idler
The idler is a useful framework for supporting the belt. Based on their location and function, idlers are divided into top, middle, and bottom idlers. The upper part is used to hold the loaded belt, the middle part is used to track so that the belt does not shift from the provided path, while the lower idler is used to hold the empty belt.
3. Centering device
A centering device is a small object attached to a conveyor that serves to keep the belt on track and miss the roller.
4. Drive unit
The drive unit is a drive unit for a conveyor. The conveyor belt is driven by friction between the belt and the drive pulley. The belt attached to the pulley is rotated using a driving motor so that it can move.
5. Trippers
This part of the conveyor has a function to spill the load in a predetermined place. This component can be operated automatically according to the settings that have been made to facilitate the work of employees.
6. Belt cleaner
Belt cleaner is a belt cleaner that is usually installed at the lower end of the belt. Thanks to this component, the material that sits on the belt does not stick to the belt and is directly spilled at the designated place.
7. Skirt
The skirt is shaped like a bulkhead that is installed on the right and left sides of the belt at the loading point. Skirts are usually made of metal or can also be made of wood. Usually these skirt components are installed upright or tilted, the most important thing is that the material is not scattered.
8. Holdback
Holdback has a very important role to prevent the conveyor belt that lifts the load up from spinning back down.
9. Frames
The frame or framework is usually made of steel construction which serves to support all conveyor belt arrangements. The frame is positioned in such a way as to ensure the belt can run uninterrupted during use.
10. Drive Motor
To move a conveyor, a driving motor in the form of an electric moor is needed to move the drive pulley. The movement of this motor can be adjusted as desired, for example by moving an empty belt and overcoming friction between idlers, moving horizontal loads, transporting loads in a vertical motion, moving a tripper, or accelerating the belt which is usually used by the automotive industry.
11. Bending the Belt
This part has an important role to bend the belt. Consists of a final pulley, roller arrangement, and a load with belt flexibility properties. This part is needed because a continuously moving belt must rotate in order to continue moving the material.
12. Feeders
The feeder or feeder in the conveyor serves to load material onto the belt.
