Types of Height Measuring Instruments

Body measuring devices have different functions and applications. Here are the types of body measurements and their functions.

1. Measuring Tape

The measuring tape is one of the body measuring tools that has many functions. In addition to measuring height, this measuring tape can also be applied to measure body diameter which can be used as an indication of the baby's development. By measuring the height in the baby, it helps to show whether a child is growing well. If measurements show that a child is weak, underweight, or bloated, the child may be acutely malnourished and should be referred for nutritional care and treatment.

2. HLS / Horizontal Length Scale

The next type of body measurement tool is the HLS or Horizontal Length Scale. This is a flexible horizontal scale used to measure the supine length of the baby.

3. Infantometer

The infantometer itself measures the infant's supine length with greater accuracy, by holding the baby in a secure position.

4. Anthropometer

Another measuring tool is the anthropometer. This tool consists of four equal rods and can be used to measure heights up to a distance of 2 meters.

5. Stadiometer

This type of measuring device is a medical device used to measure human height. The stadiometer consists of a ruler and a horizontal sliding headpiece that can be mounted overhead to measure height. Stadiometers themselves are commonly used in routine medical examinations as well as in clinical trials and experiments. This measuring tool can be used on children ranging from children to adults.
